WANDERINGS: Living the Ordinary Extraordinarily (Stories from the Road)

(Updated 10/15/12)...I escaped the snow in Flagstaff and am now in Cottonwood, slowly meandering back to Quartzsite where it's still in the 90s. I danced at the casino in Camp Verde Friday night and Saturday/Sunday in Clarkdale. I've discovered some grand restaurants in Cottonwood; so am extending my stay. By the weekend, I'll be at the Hon Dah Casino in Pinetop to dance and the Unitarian Fellowship in Showlow on Sunday. Then on to Quartzsite on Monday, stopping at Mimi's Restaurant just west of Phoenix. Their French onion soup is the BEST in the world!

I'M HOUSE SITTING A LOT AND AM OPEN TO POSSIBILITIES WORLDWIDE.

JANE FINLEY (GYPSY JANE)
writer * artist * teacher * traveler

Jane Finley (Gypsy Jane) started traveling in her small, solar-equipped camper on February 12, 2000. She describes her life as a great adventure. She gives programs and teaches classes at YMCAs, senior centers, libraries, and churches along the way. Her NON-business card reads teacher (exercise, stretching, relaxation, meditation). Jane says she has everything she needs or wants; so her programs are free to the public. She adds, "If you have freedom and health, you have everything."

Jane was a teacher (preschool through college) and then owned her own business "Jane of All Trades (sense of humor, some genius)". The year it rained 90 days in three months, she sold her home and almost everything she owned and left Seattle, Washington. Jane had a wake-up call several years ago when a Unitarian Minister said, "We have less than 1,000 months to live." Think how fast we tear those months off our calendars!

She strongly believes in the philosophy of Zorba the Greek, who lived each day as if it were his last, and Auntie Mame who said, "Life is a banquet, and some poor fools are starving to death!" Jane lives a very simple life, realizing early on that acquiring more and more things doesn't make us happy. Jane names The Peace Pilgrim, who lived a life of service, as her spiritual guide and gives away the Peace Pilgrim booklet "Steps to Inner Peace." She describes herself as "young at heart -- other parts slightly older." Her favorite T-shirt says, "I'm retired; this is as dressed up as I get."

Her book is called WANDERINGS: Living the Ordinary Extraordinarily (Stories from the Road).
